Second-Hand Story

So this morning, JW was looking at Kelly's face through a magnifying glass and said to her...(and this may not be an exact quote) hey! You've got little red lightings in your eye!

That dude's funny.

Easter Highlights

Although illness threw off our groove on the official Easter plans, we took a couple of pics to remember the day! Jordan just put her outfit on to be in the pics!! She was running fever and couldn't go to church so she and Wes had to stay home. It took me about 15 tries to get TWO decent pictures! I finally had to threaten to take everyone's Easter candy and eat it until I puked and suddenly, I had cooperation!!(Sorry about the feet, Deneise, Jordan really wanted her pretty toes to be showcased on the blog...her's are the blue toes!)

Bippity Boppity Boo...and Amen!

The past several days have not fared well in the Powell house. Wes and I were DOWN AND OUT with some sort of knock you on your butt bug...coughing, aching, sneezing, fever, and the worst headache I believe I've ever had. Needless to say, the kids had to survive without much guidance from us. I literally only got out of the bed to take medicine, refill my water cup, and empty the bladder!

Last night, Emma came into the room with a flashing light-up rose wand and was waving it over me saying "bippity boppity boo...I want Mom to be well!" After several passes over my body, she hugged me and said she really hoped I felt better in the morning.

Fast forward to today around lunch when I returned home from the egg hunt at church...Emma said, "Mom, are you feeling better?"

I replied, "Yes, babe, much much better!"

Emma very excitedly says, "YAY! My magic worked! Well...and I BEGGED God to make you feel better!"

How sweet is that? Emma begging on my behalf!! I don't know if the begging indicates we need to stregthen her faith or her desparation to have her mother back in her life! Either way, we're both grateful that God answered her prayer!

Spring Break Fun

We spent the first part of Spring Break hanging out with my sister, brother, and their families. The kids had a blast playing like country kids. Mudholes, tractor rides, and bonfires to boot. They were in kid heaven...and being there with their cousins made it even more fun! Here are a few snapshots of our great trip...
Our first day there, JW fell into this HUGE mudhole...we all found it quite humorous! He, on the other hand, did not!
This is Emma night one...totally conked out in the chair using her new webkin as a pillow! TOO SWEET!!
Tractor rides are all the rage in Jacksonville...squeamish parents should not watch!
I took this pic to show how high the bucket was...while the kids were having a blast, I was completely freaked out!
Glory's not lovin her first tractor ride so much!
Rub a Dub Dub...Three mugs in the tub!
This is Randee...her favorite pasttime is CLIMBING. While we were there, she climbed on EVERYTHING! She even fell a couple of times but that did not deter her next climbing feat!
The table is a favorite place to climb...she would scavenge the crumbs after meals! We call her catfish!
Glory apparently LOVES lasagne! She's licking the plate!

It's Been a Long Time...

Since I played basketball! I played a friendly game of ball this afternoon and let me just say, every muscle from my neck to my big toe hurts. Mostly the little muscles between my ribs from the heaving I was doing trying to run up and down the court. Five minutes is a LONG time when you're out of shape!

It's also been a long time since I vacuumed out my van...until today that is. Please don't ask how long because that's just embarrassing! Here are some tips for those of you who drive around with little people in your back seats:
1. Don't ask about the bright orange goo stuck to carpet in the third row (in fact, unless you're really brave, don't venture to the third row!)
2. Don't ever lift the floor mats! (What happens under the floor mats should stay under the floor mats)
3. The pockets on the backs of the seats? BAD IDEA!
4. The cubbies back by the cup holders? WORSE IDEA!
5. The nastiest place in the whole back seat area? THE GRIMY DISGUSTING I'M NOT QUITE SURE HOW LIGHT IS EVEN STILL PASSING THROUGH WINDOWS! Those backseat windows were nine kinds of nasty. I'm pretty sure you should be caught up on all your vaccinations before tackling those!

Finally...it's been pretty much all winter since I swept off the back porch. I knew it was in dire need of a sweep; but, I don't believe in working in harsh weather conditions. So, I tackled that today too.

Now, I can wait a really long time before doing any of the above mentioned things again!

Sleep Talking

I'm sitting in bed catching up on my blog reads when Jordan (who is asleep in Wes's spot...he's working) says, "Oh, yeah and I...oh, yeah and I...remember how it can double as that wrapper (or perhaps rapper) thing?" Then, she pulls the covers back over her head and back to La La land she goes. I was hoping to get something a little jucier when I realized she was talking in her sleep; but, all I got was nonsense! Oh well, better luck next time!

My family...by Emma Powell

I love my family so so much. The reason I love my daddy is he's nice. I love my mommy because she's nice too. I love my brothers and sisters. I'm glad God gave me my family. I will never forget them. I will always have a gift beside me.

Quick Story...

Emma was telling me that there's a girl in her class who runs really slow (at this point she's demonstrating). I say, "Well, that's okay. Not everyone can be fast. I'm not very fast and I'm still cool." To which Emma replies, "But, that's different. Your not fast because you're just lazy!"

Now...I'm rolling in the floor laughing! Where does she come up with this stuff?
